WHAT IS
THE FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM?
The FSS Program is a supports program for residents
in Public Housing and Section 8 participants.
The FSS Program assists participants identify
and achieve educational and career goals. The
FSS Program’s goal is to help families become
independent and free of the need for government
assistance.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
FSS Program families must live in Guam and participate
in one of the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authorities
assisted housing programs: Public Housing or Section
8 Program.
WHAT CAN
FSS DO FOR ME?
The FSS program helps families become financially
independent. The FSS Program can link you to support
services such as:
Job training,
Counseling,
Life skills,
Financial planning, and
Case management.
The FSS Program rewards you with a savings account.
GHURA opens an escrow account for each FSS family
when they have an increase in rent because of
an increase in earned income. GHURA saves your
increased rent for you.
DO I LOSE
MY HOUSING ASSISTANCE IF I AM IN THE FSS PROGRAM
AND MAKING MORE MONEY?
No. Families participating in the FSS Program
do not lose their housing assistance. FSS families
will have housing stability while they work on
their self-sufficiency plan.
