Housing Counseling Program
GHURA's Housing Counseling Program is one of the newest
programs to be provided under the Community Development
Division. Its primary goal is to provide comprehensive
housing counseling services for families who are within
80% of the Area Median Income and below, offering services
such as, First-Time homebuyer education courses, financial
management for pre and post homeownership, credit building
and repair, foreclosure and delinquency mitigation,
and other services designed to address home acquisition
and retention. Housing Counselors are able to work with
individuals in both the group and individual settings
to assess their readiness for homeownership and determine
problem areas, which may jeopardize homeownership opportunities
or result in an eviction.
